The State of Georgia, along with several other states, has already installed numerous roundabouts. However, roundabouts are still not as common as most  other types of intersections. Here we try to give you more information about a still growing concept in the development of intersections. Studies by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and Federal Highway Administration have shown that roundabouts, compared to other types of intersections, typically are safer to motorist:

  • 37% reduction in overall collisions
  • 75% reduction in injury collisions
  • 90% reduction in fatality collisions
  • 40% reduction in pedestrian collisions
