Columbus, GA, Aug.6, 2018 – The millenials are at it again. And I support them wholeheartedly!
A group of young people from here in Columbus and Phenix City have taken up the cause of getting Interstate 14 completed through Georgia and Alabama. I commend them for all the attention they have gotten and for the connections they have already made.
I first moved to Columbus in 1985. At that time, I wondered why Columbus didn’t have an interstate running through it – not just to it. Of course, at that time the interstate highway system was not complete. So I figured it would come in time.
Well, I moved back here in 2012 and there was still no interstate running through the city. I don’t know why but that’s the way it is.
So yes! I think Columbus would benefit greatly by having Interstate 14 coming to and through the city. And I hear talk of Interstate 22 coming through the city one day from Birmingham. That would be simply fantastic.
The sharp group of young people have done a simply amazing job of putting together Fact Sheets about the benefits that will accrue from Interstate 14. They were also responsible for a great video about I-14 put together by Naartjie Multimedia.
Kudos to the Youth Infrastructure Coalition:
- Mr. Frank Lumpkin IV
- Mr. Justus Armstrong
- Ms. Carsen Storey
and to all the members for their achievements thus far. Visit the I-14 website to learn more, donate, and join in.
